Our Story
Why We Built AskEllie
We’re Oliver and Rebecca — parents to two incredible boys with complex needs including Autism, PDA, ADHD and Dyslexia.
AskEllie wasn’t built from a business idea.
It was built from experience.
Years of navigating a system that was confusing, slow, and often left us to figure things out on our own.
Like many families, we faced:
- school anxiety and refusal
- an exhausting EHCP process
- limited support from schools and local authorities
- and constant battles just to secure the basics
At times, it felt relentless.
What Changed
Over time, we began to understand how the system really works.
Not just emotionally — but practically.
We learned:
- what the law actually says
- how to word things so they are taken seriously
- and how to challenge decisions effectively
That knowledge changed everything.
Why AskEllie Exists
We built AskEllie because we needed it ourselves.
Now, we use it to help other parents do the same.
Today, AskEllie provides:
- clear, accessible guidance through complex SEND processes
- practical tools and templates
- and one-to-one personalised support for more complex situations
Everything we share is based on real experience — not theory.
What Makes AskEllie Different
There are many professionals in this space.
What makes AskEllie different is simple:
- we’ve lived it
- we understand the emotional and practical reality
- and we know what actually works
